The paper is devoted to the use of an inertial electrodynamic exciter in laboratory testing of a rail fastening sample. The
exciter of Tira Company was integrated into a control system from Vibration Research Company for testing purposes. The paper includes a discussion of the motivation for using the excitation system in laboratory testing, as well as a description of the characteristics
and capabilities of dynamic excitation of structures, including a proposal of methods of analysing measured data. The Vossloh rail
fastening sample was used for the purpose of the article. The contribution also includes a comparison of the vibration parameters of
the tested structure and recommendations for other workplaces that would like to use a similar excitation system in their vibration
experiments.
